If I click on a downloadable mp3 from my WP8 IE it streams the file but there is no option to download it. Question Info. Great! Thanks for marking this as the answer. Streaming is too costly on the long run, and I think its not acceptable that we have to go to a PC to get these files on to the phone because it to a certain extent defeats the advantage of a mobile device. Download .mp3 files with Windows Phone 8. 3 people were helped by this reply. How satisfied are you with this reply? Did this solve your problem? Sorry this didn't help. I like surfing on Websites of amateur musicians who offer .mp3 downloads of their songs - absolutely legal and free, and I cant download them for offline listening. Best would be an option to either stream ( which is useful to listen to just part of a large mp3) or to download the mp3 in order to listen later. In fact, when a WP8 device streams an mp3 the file is actually buffered into a temporary folder so I don't see why a proper download function should not be possible. That really should be a basic function and I think Microsoft should fix this. I think it also applies to certain video files. My old WM6 phone (4 years old!) can do it.
